ASASSN-141p = Type Ia Supernova in NGC 4666 (Virgo)
T. W.-S. Holoien et al. announce in The Astronomer'sTelegram (ATel) #6795 ( http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=6795)the discovery of a transient in NGC 4666 at magnitude 14.3 V on 2014 December9.61 UT. The discovery was made in the course of the All Sky Automated Surveyfor SuperNovae (ASASSN) search, and the object assigned the name ASASSN-141p.ASASSN-141p was not seen (<15.3 V) in poor-quality ASASSN images obtained on2104 Dec. 08.35 UT.

Observations are requested of this Type-Ia supernova.
Coordinates: RA 12:45:09.101 Dec. -00:27:32.49 (2000.0)
ASASSN-141p is located 12" from the center of NGC4666. It is currently a pre-dawn target, but will become more favorablypositioned as the outburst progresses.
A finder chart for ASASSN-141p with sequence may becreated using the AAVSO Variable Star Plotter (VSX, http://www.aavso.org/vsp).
Please submit observations to the AAVSO InternationalDatabase using the name ASASSN-141p. Once a supernova ID has been assigned bythe Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams, please use that name.
