The author claimed to use 80Ed/600 which I suppose is a refractor. There is no mention of using "star filter" or similar jigs to produce the crosses which are usually caused bys piders (secondary mirror mount) of reflectors.
Thus I am not sure about the images.....
80mm refractor surely can produce such beautiful image under good sky. The star spike can be easily generated by putting a narrow wire cross in front of the camera that caused the spider diffraction.
