This picture compares the air quality in Shatin within the last 24 hours.
The air in Sept 29 was okay because of the “washing” effect by a neighboring tropical cyclone. The air quality in next day (Sept 30) deteriorated quickly, suggesting a high rate of air pollution in our city. A recent HK Polytechnic survey also indicates that over 50% pollution is due to internal activities, not outsiders !
The additional bad news is an accelerated rate of ice dissolve in the polar region, threatening all coastal cities overwhelmed by sea water within this century. This is also evidenced by the CO2 clock at Mauna Loa Observatory, which is approaching a stunning breakout of 400 ppm !
