It is interesting to note that the new generation WISE infrared space telescope is much smaller in size than older models (because of using solid hydrogen as coolant), and its 40-cm primary mirror is GOLD coated !

Bill, you may be interested to note: one goal of WISE is to find the closest stars to the Sun.
