Hi,
Here is a message from Prof.Jay Pasachoff.  He advised more publicity on the SAFETY aspect for the public during the eclipse. Could someone follow up?

Fred Espenak's NASA table of partial eclipse visibility for next week's annular eclipse that some of us intend to see from Indonesia includes Hong Kong, as you no doubt know.  See
http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/OHtables/OH2009-Tab02.pdf
Fred's world map with the partial and total zones shown is at http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/OHfigures/OH2009-Fig01.pdf.
It shows  38% in Hong Kong.

Are you and the newspapers preparing the populace for safe observing of the eclipse?  I'd be glad to hear of any public activities that you plan and to receive some newspaper clippings after the event.

I am going on Cathay Pacific to Indonesia, but only changing planes in Hong Kong.

Best wishes,
Jay Pasachoff

Off topic: Nowadays the public is really hard to buy solar viewers that are safe.
Maybe we should do the job to educate them.
