Combining the macrolensing (巨引力透鏡) and microlensing (微引力透鏡) effects produced by a foreground galaxy, ESO has used its VLT (Very Large Telescope) to dissert the accretion disc around a supermassive blackhole that resides in the active nucleus of a background galaxy.
ps Supermassive blackholes are generally associated with quasars, briefly introduced in HKAS Newsletter 2007/Aug-Sept issue. The comind issue will also talks on blackholes.
