That may be due to the processing of the image. As the original balance function of the camera does not realise the front filter of CCD is changed so normally the raw images are becoming red "bias". Therefore, shoot the picture in RAW allows to render the original colour balance during post processing. Iris is a good choice but certainly Photoshop CS2 or 3 also provide the colour correction tool while open the RAW image.
In your case, if you are not using your 350D frequently for astrophotography, probably stay with the original one may be good option as once it is modified, the colour balance for normal photography is difficult to be rendered to visual realistic (still slightly deviated from normal).
The Canon 20Da is the best one I have used as it only emphasize the Ha channel so that it can be used for both normal and astro work.
