右上方的山脈是高加索, 下面是阿平寧山脈, 中央是雨海(左) 通往澄海的海狹, 中間一大(阿里斯基爾, 希腊古天文學家) 一小(奥托里库斯, 希腊古天文數學家) 的隕坑下邊是病沼. 左邊的大坑及其下邊地形,形似浴缸滿瀉, 用上了在沐浴時, 發明量度不規則形狀物件的體績的阿基米德來命名.
