CF card for DSLR

I saw big price difference between 4G and "4G Fast Speed" CF card ?
e.g. $190 vs $330

Can I use the $190 4G in Canon 350D?

Hi Alan,

Certainly faster the speed, the data read write time will be faster.

If you only use the compac flash for astrophotography, the speed is not critical unless you are going to do the photo shooting that needs fast frame rate, high speed compact flash will be useful.

Apart from the CF card, the camera itself can be the bottle neck for data transfer. I have tried different CF cards with my Canon 300D and Nikon 8400, these two "older" cameras show no increase in data transfer speed with faster CF cards. In other words, the cheapest cards nowadays are good enough for my old cameras. However, very old and slow CF cards will show a difference.

I have paid a lot to learn this.

Nonono, buy a better Camera to suit the smart CF cards ma !

In the past 10 years or  so, I also "paid" (foolishly) to learn. From now on, I buy only when I am sure I need it. My first trial is Canon 350D. I could be the latest one to own a DSLR in this Group.  I was tempted to buy 350D 3 years ago, but I  didn't buy it (because of no urgent need). Two months ago I bought 350D for use in coming trip, and the 350D + 18-55 mm zoom just costed $3500  全新行貨, with free bonus of a 2G CF card, a UV filter, a carrying bag and a tripod !
