Hi LT ,
May I add one more cent to make up your 2+2 cents, hahahaha…Now we have a 「斗零」。
I bought Vixen LV2.5 because of its unique spec that we can’t find any other equivalence elsewhere. Its extremely short focal length and long eye relief already tells it has an internal barrow, so this eyepiece should not be used with other external barrow. After all, in my observations I haven’t met a need where LV2.5 was used with additional barrow.
I bought Vixen 24 - 8 mm Zoom for convenience. Often I used it in my start-up of my 10-in f/6 Newtonian which is slightly taller than my eye-level. I need to stand on stool by the eyepiece. With the Zoom, I don’t need to pop up & down from stool to change different eyepieces. After the Moon or planet is spotted at the 24-mm position, I zoom to higher power, have some funs of visual on my target and then plug in my video cam.
Even I used the Vixen zoom as fixed focal-length eyepiece, I can tell it has no shame at all compared to my Tak series eyepiece. Optically, it is much better than the “mixed” brands. The best fit of Vixen zoom is on the compact ETX-90 scope. I got about 50X to 150X at convenience.
