SEMINAR:- Interplay between HII Regions and Star Formation
HII regions are ubiquitous in the Milky Way, which are believed to be good laboratories of studying triggered star formation. It is suggested that about 22% massive young stellar objects (L>10^3 Lsun, still embedded within molecular cores) might have been triggered by the expanding HII regions, signifying an importance of triggered star formation, especially for massive star formation. However, the exact processes of how stars are triggered have to be answered. At present, theoretical studies seems to be going ahead of observations due to complex realistic environments around HII regions. This encourages us to carry out more detailed observations studies. Complemented with other multi-wavelength data, Herschel observations provide us with unique opportunities to understand how HII regions regulate their adjacent ISMs and star formation therein, further promoting us to get more insights into triggered star formation.
