高能物理1 - 高能天體物理學及高能天文學粒子 @香港大學物理系
Lecture:- Lecture in High Energy Physics I (High Energy Astrophysics and Astroparticles)
Due to the advance of technology in the 21st century, High Energy Physics (HEP) is considered one of the most exciting topics in Physics. Several Nobel prizes have been awarded in this area. This are is also closely related to Astrophysics via what is known as Multi-messenger Astronomy, including the different Astroparticles: Cosmic Rays, Gamma Rays, and Neutrinos. In this first part of these lectures, the speaker will give an overview of how High Energy Astrophysics is linked with Multiwavelenght Astronomy and the Astroparticles. He also present how the various Astroparticles are related and how, via Gamma-Ray Astrophysics, it is possible to understand the most energetic and violent universe; a cataclysmic universe ruled by black holes and explosive events. For completeness, a summary of the Physical Processes will be included.

高能物理2 - 探測天文學粒子 @香港大學物理系
Lecture:- Lecture in High Energy Physics II (Astroparticles Detection)
In this second lecture, tying into the topics presented in my previous lecture, the speaker will give an overview of Astroparticles, including how they are detected and how the physical studies are performed after their detection (e.g. sky maps). In fact, thanks to current technology, it is possible to produce unprecedented maps and obtain results that were previously unattainable. The detection of Astroparticles is complicated and it is very different to Optical and Radio astronomy techniques. The speaker will present a short summary of the different techniques used by existing instruments but will focus on the Cherenkov Radiation Effect. In this technique, unlike other areas of Astronomy, we do not use "secondary mirrors" or similar devices, therefore it is very important to use simulations (e.g. Monte Carlo) and link them with the instrument. Finally, it is not possible understand how the Astroparticles are detected without knowledge of what an Extensive Air Shower (EAS) is, and how it is produced in the Earth's Atmosphere. In this lecture the speaker will give a short summary of EAS and will end with a summary of the current status of the field and what is in store for the future.
