That stuff is called "食繭", food pellet, spit out by the kingfisher.
The birds' digestion system is very different from mammal ( like us). They do not have teeth, so usually swallow their prey ( food) in one whole piece.
They digestion system depend on first grinding in their gizzard , and then digest by the strong acid in their stomach. For hard objects ( like the fish bones ) in their food that cannot be digested, instead of passing out of the body as 大便, these undigest-able objects will be spit out as 食繭, ( in fact, birds do not distinguish between 大和小便, they only have one type of 便便). |
