Invitation of being the guest lecturer of the ASC 2008

On behalf of the Astronomy Club, HKUSU, I am writing to invite members, exco of HKAS to be the honorable guest lecturer of our upcoming external function: Astronomy Summer Class 2008 (ASC 2008).

The Astronomy Summer Class is one of our traditional annual functions. Being held every summer, it has a history of over 44 years. The class aims at promoting the knowledge of astronomy to secondary school students in both theoretical and practical aspects through lectures and workshops.

We would like to invite members/exco of HKAS to be our honorable guest lecturer in one of our lectures, which will take place on 23/07/2008 in HKU campus. Exact time and venue will be confirmed at a later stage.

The Class is open to all Third to Seventh formers, with the upper limit of about 100 participants. To most of the participants, it would be the first time for them to expose to astronomy. Definitely, they would be deeply impressed if you can spare some of your precious time to give a lecture to them.

The Class is a meaningful activity which serves as a healthy summer program for youngsters. Not only can participants acquire astronomical knowledge while enjoying themselves by various activities organized, they can make new friends from different schools.

As Hong Kong Astronomical Society is one of the top astronomical organizations in Hong Kong which enjoys high standing in the field of astronomy. Members and exco in your society are well known experts in astronomy, it would be our honor if we can have your involvement in our function.
