I am also wondering what happened.
However, it is not the first time the prediction goes far off the mark.
On June 17, 2009, asteroid #146 (Lucina) was predicted to occult a 11-mag star in Virgo. Hong Kong was predicted to be at the edge of the southern red line.
In fact I forgot the slim chance of seeing this event that I organized all 20 participants of the Teachers' Astronomy Class to come to see the event (by coincidence, we have class that evening). I was just about to explain that the occultation may not be visible at Hokoon when everyone shout out that the star had indeed disappeared!
In the end, we were able to see the occultation, but the timing indicated that we were quite close to centre of the path.
