About the Speaker:
Prof. J.S. Chen graduated from the Peking University in 1963. He is Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1991 onwards. He is the Head of the Department of Astronomy of the Peking University. Prof. Chen is also a member of the national committee of the 8th CPPCC and the 9th NPC Standing Committee.

Prof. X.W. Liu got his PhD of Astrophysics jointly from the European Southern Observatory and the Beijing Astronomical Observatory in 1992. He is also a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

Prof. X.B. Wu got his PhD from the Beijing Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1996. He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU). Prof. Wu has been awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholar in 2005.
