It is very sad matter. I've been to Purple Mountain many times and get pass this "academic exchange centre" many times without any chance of seeing its inside.
In my mind, it is being reserved for meeting/conference of top-notch astronomers.....
When we attended the 80th anniversary meeting of the Chinese Astronomical Society several years ago at a hotel in Nanjing, and no seminar was held in the 田家炳樓 I know I was wrong.
However, with the whole PM Observatory not being used at all (it is more a tourists attraction for all its ancient astronomy tools now) they should turn the whole facility into a museum, or for popularisation of astronomy) rather then letting all the domes locked!
