To be fair, HK government have done something on environomental control. At  least I saw these in Shatin :  the river water is less polluted than 10 years ago and the lightings in public parks are shielded to illuminate downwards. What's behind are those tall commericial & residental buildings, street sign boards, electricity generation and vehicles which are the main sources of pollutions. Probably HK did something good but the pace is relatively slow and not aiming at those big tigers.

When China send their students to the western worlds to study, all they pick is engineering, MBA, accounting/finance, medicine etc. They seldom pick Law, philosophy, history, political science etc.

They seems to think that the Western power is strong because they have steel ship and gunpower. They fail to apprecaite that the West is strong because they have democracy and respect of humanity.

As in Kung Fu, there is inadequate to learn just the style and movement, but total lack of internal software system!

I think it's not only in China but in Hong Kong too. Most HK students go abroad to study science, engineering, accountancy and other science and economic subjects. That's why Hong Kong has the same phenomenon too.
In Hong Kong, parents feel honour if their sons and daughters can speak English fluently and not Mandarin. Their philosophy is that if their sons and daughters can speak and write good English, they are smarter than those who are not so good in English. Do you think it's true?
This is the "tragedy" of Chinese.

Yes, I forgot to include HK.

It is a tragedy for parents to be so eager for their children to speak English. Having lived in North America for 20 years, I could tell you  that on average, there is no big difference on the intelligence of both white people and Chinese. The only difference is the "system". Ai, don;t want to say too much here, this subject is too sensitive........
