天文節目導讀 -- 黑洞訊息的悖論
科學最大的特色是允許有錯，有時候因為錯得精采，激發一班熱切的科學家不眠不休地尋找答案，使科學發展向前邁向一大步。理論天文組於6月3日(星期三)所研習題目是「黑洞訊息悖論」 ─ 一個爭論了30多年的悖論，史蒂芬霍金到最後不得不向世人承認他自己錯了。小組將透過大家一起觀看其中的科普節目霍金悖論 (Hawking’s Paradox in a black hole)，然後就其中的內容作較深入一點討論。
你帶著問題來，但未必能帶著答案走。小組的目的就是通過一些問題激發大家的參與和討論，看看你能否從中找到你想要的答案。有興趣的朋友，歡迎參加。
題 目：黑洞訊息悖論

理論天文組是香港天文學會轄下的學術小組，自1989年成立至今，無論是學會之會員或非會員都歡迎加入。小組約每兩星期聚會一次，討論的題目廣泛，主要利用一些與天體物理有關的參考書和論文作為研習題目，如恆星演化、廣義相對論、黑洞、優雅的宇宙等。為了讓組員對所討論之題目更深入了解，本組鼓勵組員自行分配題目並輪流負責介紹所定下的討論題目。

Philip 在講座中，引用了影片裏的一段話：「．．． 所有這些原本會毁掉他（霍金）事業的因素，被他驚人地轉化為自己的優勢。．．．」來啟發大家思考人生處世。
我想起之前曾看過的一篇類似的文章，現轉貼在這兒跟大家分享。

Biggest Weakness Can Become Your Biggest Strength
Sometimes your biggest weakness can become your biggest strength.
Take, for example, the story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.
The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move.
"Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?"
"This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the Sensei replied.
Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.
Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match.
Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.
This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the Sensei intervened.
"No," the Sensei insisted, "Let him continue."
Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: He dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion.
On the way home, the boy and Sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind.
"Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?"
"You won for two reasons," the Sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm."
The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.
