Nova Sgr 2016 No. 2 = ASASSN-16ig = TCP J18010780-2631434


Event: Nova in Sagittarius

Discovered by:  
- Koichi Nishiyama (Kurume, Japan) and Fujio Kabashima (Miyaki,
Japan) (CBET 4295);
- All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN) (K. Z. Stanek
et al., ATel #9343)

Discovery magnitude:
- Nishiyama and Kabashima - 10.7 unfiltered CCD (2 frames using a
135-mm f/4 camera lens (+FLI 09000 camera))
- ASAS-SN - V~13.3

Discovery date:
- Nishiyama and Kabashima - 2016 Aug. 8.53233 UT
- ASAS-SN - 2016 Aug. 6.96 UT
  
Coordinates (2000.0): R.A. 18 01 07.75  Dec. -26 31 44.8  (from VSX)

Spectra: Spectroscopy indicating that ASASSN-16ig is a Fe-II type
classical nova were obtained by A. Arai (Kyoto Sangyo University)
and Paulo Cacella (DogsHeaven Observatory, Brasilia, Brazil) (ATel
#9359), and by M. Fujii (Okayama, Japan, via H. Maehara, CBET
4295), whose spectrum is at
http://otobs.org/FBO/fko/nova/asassn-16ig_20160808.png.

Observing recommendations: Observations of all types (visual, CCD,
DSLR, spectroscopy) and all bands as instrumentation permits are
strongly encouraged as the nova evolves.

b. Nishiyama and Kabashima confirmed their discovery on five 5-s
unfiltered CCD frames taken around 2016 Aug 08.5323 UT.

c. Nishiyama and Kabashima report that the nearest star in USNO
B1.0 has position end figures 07.74s, 45.0", distance 1.8",
magnitudes R1=20.71, I=18.58.

d. Position end figures:

-  M. Yamamoto (Okazaki, Japan, via CBET 4295), 2016 Aug. 8.472 UT,
07s.7, 47" (+/- 5")

07s.80s, 43.4"
