Does the Mount data bank include Pluto ?

Have you tried to find Pluto out and track on her ?

I am quite interested of the compact size of mount, can I buy it locally and how much?

On my Cube model (basic version),its data bank does not have Pluto. It only shows planets up to Uranus &  Neptune.

Even the data blank inludes Pluto, I am afraid that it does not help to see it from Cube, because Pluto is very faint (~13 mag),normally it requires bigger telescope + camera method to capture it. The loading of such setup are too heavy for the compact Cube mount, which is intended mainly for visual observations with small telescope. One must be content with the strength and weakness of using compact mount.

BTW, the basic Cube mount costed under HK$2600, tripod & 12V dc adapter inclusive. This was about 3 months ago. I bought it locally for camp entertainment where light weight & compact size is important for my strength. I use Cube with the Meade  ETX90 Mak, almost visual.

Thank for your advise, to be honest, a bit disappointed of the data bank of cube mount as I am intending to bring it far in the dark places in PRC... then capture the DSO and Pluto as well with my 350D.

These are my targets but looks not easy.

Anyway, where can I buy it locally ?

Dear Lo,

If you intend to take DSO & Pluto with 350D in oversea trip, the Cube mount is not suitable. You likely need an equatorial mount similar to Vixen GP. The mount should be motor-driven in R.A. axis + polarscope. I myself uses the Vixen setup. Of course you can choose the original Vixen GP (more reliable) or the cheaper clone model.

Dear Alan

I got my GP mount from LT years ago, actually it always goes with me for trips,
but when someone becomes older and older like me, then, easier life will be the better choice... an excuse of laziness, he he...

Anyway, thanks again for advise !
