Skywatcher MAK127 or Celestron C5

Hi folks

May I have your opinion for pros and cons comparing two captioned models please?

I am new to telescope and my purpose is sky observation plus photography. As already with a AstroTrac tt320x, I would like to use the telescope with my tt320x (may be EQ after I learn enough experience) for Deep Space Observation and photography.Planet photography is one of my wish but limit to Saturn at most....

Understand the two telescopes are in fact manufactured by same company, but I hear more about Celestron C5 than Skywatcher... and I still can't make the choice about several days research.

May I have your opinion for which one is more suitable for my case?

Thousand Thanks!

Keith

I have both the C5 and SW127. Each of them has their own merits.
They are different in optical construction with performance in my opinion being about the same.
The SW127 would be slightly better in observing the planets whereas the C5 is a bit more portable.
The C5 is a Schmidt Cassegrain, focal length 1250 mm at f/10, weighing about 6 lb.
The SW127 is a Maksutov Cassegrain, focal length 1500 mm at f/12, weighing about 8.5 lb.
You can use Google to see the difference in construction between the two.
