Even if one has a good webcam (DMK camera, for example), one also needs a reasonably big telescope to collect enough light so that the planets look big enough.

But many people without big scope still enjoy shooting the moon, or shooting low magnification jupiter with all 4 Galilean satellites around.

Have a reasonable expectation with whatever set up you'll get, enjoying the imaging process and pushing the performance of what you've got are more important than getting the best equipment, in my opinion.

Good luck with your imaging journey.

大鏡我當然無la,不過最重要的是善用我有的儀器。
我考慮WebCam的原因是我的DC仔電源不太可靠(又未想買新住)。
WebCam可影月球、行星,是不錯的選擇。
同埋買左部Netbook仔。

Dear Alan,
上次你間接送鏡給我我都未多謝你,個WebCam你不如出讓給我好過。
不過星期六我參加左HKAS學界Camp(22-23/8/2009),無緣去水口:'(

Dear Wales,

Never mind, see you other time.

If you wish to go at budget ~$600, I would suggest to go ahead for SPC900NC or its earlier version (ToUcam). They are the best webcam for astro we found so far. (One thing I admire is its zero frame drop at any configuration.)    Even you buy a cheaper model now, sooner or later you will move to the SPC900NC / ToUcam. Web also said the SPC900 uses a new-compressor circuit for shooting under dark (meaning lower noise).
